About Me

Hola,  Raising Mujeres is a blog dedicated to being a source of inspiration for women who love family life, fashion, home decor, and occasional talks about books.

This blog’s focal point will be on motherhood, particularly as it pertains to my experience as a bilingual mama, a mama Latina, a mama whose Spanglish heart loves and lives in two languages; a mama whose creativity is highly influenced by a raw childhood in El Salvador. My hope for this blog is to promote a safe and encouraging space for young mamas to learn from each other about the blessings and challenges that come with parenting, share ideas and resources, talk about culture and belonging, DIY projects, books, and more.

MY STORY

I am a mother to two niñas, 14 y/o Faith, and 10 month old Luna. Both my husband and I are Latinos. He, from the beautiful Venezuela in South America; I, from mi bello pulgarcito in Central America, El Salvador. Raised in a Spanish speaking home and fluent in Spanish, I can’t help but embrace the value of my mother language as well as enjoy writing about the complexities of living bilingual.

Bueno, ahora a lo mas basico, I hold both a BA in English Literature and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Worcester is where I met my husband (Circa 1994), courted, and two decades later, eventually married. We have a long history in this town and although we have lived in many places, we love New England. Massachusetts is were we’ve settled.

Outside of blogging, I continue my studies and do the non-profit thing as a full-time strategist. I love Jesus and coffee. On my spare time, I enjoy writing, photography, baking, crafting, reading, pretending I can rap and sing, and spontaneous adventures. I often describe myself as the interception between Proverbs 31 and Calle 13 (not the actual street but rather the band).

Vamos a ver where this journey takes us!

Always true,

O
